Create a Must Have List: Is a A+ school important to your family? A large kitchen? Swimming pool? A large bathroom with his and her vanities? Creating a list will allow Navarre Real Estate Source agents to narrow down properties to show you within your price range.

Save for a Down Payment: A down payment on a home is typically 20%, depending on the loan type you select. If you put less than 20% of a down payment, PMI (private mortgage insurance) may be applied to your loan. If you are a service member, a veteran, or eligible surviving spouse, you may qualify for a VA Home Loan, which can provide 100% financing.

Budget for Fees: Budget for extra costs that the seller may not pay for, including appraisal fees, inspection fees, closing costs, property taxes and home insurance. Other fees that will not be covered by the seller are utility hook-up fees, HOA fees, etc.

Should I Rent or Buy a Home?

There are also tax exemptions for homeowners that are not available to renters. These include: Local taxes, Real Estate Tax, the interest on your loan, and the Florida Homestead Exemption which is up to $50,000! Taking advantage of these tax benefits could save a great deal of money.
